Testimonials
We believe that Hendricken offers the best opportunities for young men to grow in body, mind and spirit.
But don't take our word for it -- here's what current and formers students have to say about Hendricken:
Our mission calls us to reach out to each and every individual on our campus so we might bring them into a closer relationship With God—Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I’ve seen this happen every day I walk through our halls—through human interaction God allows His miracles to take place—not large miracles, but everyday miracles. I’ve witnessed the grace of God at work between teacher and student, coach and athlete, teachers and parents. God never gives up on any of us and I have seen our staff take that same approach with every student who walks our halls, participates in our activities, plays on our teams, performs on our stage. Bishop Hendricken is a sacred place—we tread on holy ground—we know our God is alive and well on our campus.

The more time that passes since I graduated Hendricken, the more I realize the valuable lessons I learned there.

Bishop Hendricken is an amazing place where the Church forms young men in the Spirit...it is a unique community where young men come to know who Christ has created them to be!
Fr. Marcel Taillon, former BHHS Chaplain and Hall of Fame Member
I have had the privilege of seeing Hendricken from all aspects. First, as a student at Hendricken from 1978-1982, and I am grateful for the outstanding Christian Brother education which I received. Second, as a parent, I am pleased that my son [Class of 2008]is prepared academically, spiritually and physically to go out into the world and is able to confront whatever life offers him. He has been blessed by many outstanding role models and men and women of faith on the faculty whom he has met. They have given him a "heart for God" which is priceless. Their influence is far greater than they can imagine. Finally, as a faculty member, I am privileged to work with so many dedicated men and women who inspire me daily to be better than I am. They have truly enriched my life.

Hendricken was my first love. We had wonderful students, parents, and shared the greatest memories of our lives.

Hendricken is a very special institution which shaped the minds, faith, and success of many of the men in my family. My brother and I, as well as my brothers-in-law, cousins, nephews, and son are all Hendricken Hawks. As a member of the Alumni Board, I find it rewarding to continue to be involved with the young men at Hendricken on the selection process for the Freshman Scholarship. If you haven’t visited the campus lately, please stop by for a tour or attend a game and I’m sure you will be impressed with the product the School has to offer.

I always enjoy starting off my [Admissions] fall travel season with Bishop Hendricken High School. The young gentlemen you have always provide me with great entertainment, while still remaining professional when inquiring about our university. You have done a fantastic job preparing them for success in their future.
Tara Postorino, Assistant Director of Admissions/New England, Seton Hall University
I have been blessed to be a part of this sacred institution for 36 years, and my only regret is that I cannot turn the clock back to 1967 and start all over again!
John Jackson ’71, School President, Hendricken Man of the Year, and Hall of Fame Member
Bishop Hendricken High School gave me an educational experience of a lifetime. It opened the door to my future and gave me the roadmap to navigate the journey once I crossed the threshold. I continue to find myself on paths that cross with best friends and great memories all made during my time here. I hope to be able to continue to give back to a mission that called so much out of me and shapes who I am today.
Brian Cordiero ’99, Former BHHS Director of Arts and Alumni Association Member
The culture pervading Bishop Hendricken and the tradition from which it stems instilled a profound value for all people and their wellbeing. The teachers at Hendricken gave me the skills to think critically, the freedom to think radically, and courage to challenge societal assumptions. Without the education and guidance I received from BHHS, I would not have the education, values, and courage to stand for justice.

As a parent, I have witnessed my son’s formidable development in the progression of responsibility and maturity which is diametrically linked to Hendricken’s unyielding expectations. He entered his freshman year with a strong, solid foundation and the serious learning environment in the classroom has already made an indelible mark on his future. When other parents ask me how my son likes BHHS, I reply that he loves it so much he bleeds green and gold. Hendricken is an important part of my son’s life today and I am convinced it will continue to be a source of camaraderie and pride in the future.
Fran Pacheco-Fogarty, Parents’ Council Member and parent of Ian Fogarty ’10
The teachers and staff are extremely committed and dedicated to the students and the mission of BHHS. [It is] a place where your son will be safe and part of a welcoming community, a place where young men are prepared for the future, [a place with an] academically challenging curriculum, and an environment that may change your son's life.
Tom and Laurel Patefield, Parents’ Council Member and parents of James Patefield ’09
It’s all about the students…a “community” in the true sense of the word where faculty, parents, and alumni work together to help young men become the best they can be. Hendricken teaches its students to read, write, how to think and communicate. It’s a caring environment where students receive the tools to succeed. It’s a family whose members all look out for each other. You walk through the corridors among the student body and you can feel that you’re in a special place. My son benefited so much from the writing skills that he developed at Hendricken. They prepared him very well for College.
Theodore DeNicola, Board of Directors, Advancement Committee Member and parent of Ted ’07, Jason ’11 and Andrew ’11 DeNicola
Hendricken’s main purpose is to help develop oneself and move into places by following the Creator’s lead. The Hendricken man is unself-centered.
Raymond “Chip” Venter, Jr. ’79, Hall of Fame Member
There is a sense of connection with my spiritual life. Hendricken is a nurturing community which has helped me grow into a "good" man.
James Patefield ’09
It’s been 40 years since I graduated from Hendricken. What I like best is seeing a classmate I haven’t seen for a long time and once we start talking, I get the feeling that we just left each other yesterday. Hendricken was that special.
Peter Koch ’67, Hendricken Man of the Year and Hall of Fame Member
Hendricken was a place where I learned that it is important to see God in everyone that I meet throughout the day. It also provided me with the solid academic background necessary for my later successes.
Dan Corley ’71 and Hall of Fame Member
Hendricken develops the mind, the body and the Catholic faith of young men from one generation to the next.

BHHS is a place unlike any other. I feel the greatness in the hallways when I walk through. I see Hendricken Men in the making—in all aspects of the school from academic to spiritual to social. It is a feeling I feel deep within. I know my son is where he is supposed to be. As a parent, I feel proud to be at events I attend, and I am always impressed by the way in which everything is organized and handled. There is such pride found in all at the school, and I am honored to be a part of it!

The one thought that always comes to the front of my mind, is the friendships that have been formed [at Hendricken] and will always be. Regardless of any challenge that life may deliver, we will always have a common link of faith and friendship.
