Financial Aid

The Diocese of Providence and Bishop Hendricken High School utilize FACTS Management to allocate funds and determine the amount of aid to be awarded to a student. FACTS is a national tuition and financial assessment company specializing in K-12 education.

The Admissions Office will notify all prospective families when the FACTS form becomes available online and in the office, usually by November 1st. The Business Office will also notify returning families that it is available. All families should complete the FACTS application at the earliest possible date to be considered for financial aid.

Financial Aid FAQs

When should families apply?

All students who apply for admission to Bishop Hendricken will receive notification by email when the form is available online. Hard copies are also available by contacting the Business Office. Parents of incoming students should submit their financial aid applications by mid-February for consideration. Late applications for financial aid will be considered if funds are available.

The FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment application is an online application only. Please visit click here to create your profile and complete your financial aid application. The application fee is $40 per family, and the deadline to apply for Fall 2023 is February 15, 2023. You will need a copy of your 2021 IRS Form 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ, OR your 2022 form if already completed, and all of your 2022 W-2 Wage and Tax Statements.

Who should apply?

If a need exists, we encourage a family to apply. A number of factors are considered to determine whether or not a family will qualify for tuition assistance.

How do families apply?

Tuition assistance applications can be obtained by contacting the Business Office at 401.739.7594. Once the form is available online each year, you can access it at FACTS, here.

How do families know if they qualify for financial aid?

All families are expected to make some contribution towards their son’s tuition, but we do our best to help families afford a Bishop Hendricken education. Applicants will receive a letter with their financial aid award by mid-May. Notification is also made to any applicant who may be declined financial aid.

For incoming freshmen, priority financial aid review will be given to students who took the entrance exam at Bishop Hendricken and indicated that we are your first choice school. You will receive notification of a financial aid award within two weeks of the deadline and receipt of your enrollment deposit. To be considered, you must have filed the FACTS financial aid application and also have been verified by FACTS. For questions regarding this policy, please contact the Admissions Office.

Do families need to reapply each year?

Yes, awards are NOT automatically renewed. A new FACTS application must be submitted for each school year.

Financial aid is reviewed annually, and all families who seek aid must reapply each year. If there is no material change in a family’s application, Bishop Hendricken will make every effort to maintain current award levels. Late applications for returning students may be subject to reduced and/or eliminated awards as funds are redistributed.

It is especially important that families of student-athletes complete their application in a timely manner so as not to affect the students eligibility to compete in Rhode Island Interscholastic League contests.

Does financial aid need to be paid back?

No, financial aid does not have to be paid back. The awards are neither scholarships nor loans; they are awards of financial assistance offered by Bishop Hendricken to support your son’s education.

After financial aid, what options are available to pay the remaining balance of tuition?

You may pay the balance of your tuition (the amount left after financial aid is applied) by any of the payment plans outlined below. FACTS also administers the tuition payment plans for our families, and you will be forwarded information on setting up your payment account once you have submitted the enrollment paperwork and registration fee to the Admissions Office.

Merit Scholarships

Bishop Hendricken High School awards merit scholarships to students in each freshman class who show the greatest academic promise. Merit scholarships are awarded on the basis of the student’s performance on the Catholic High School Entrance Exam, as well as their academic performance in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, as well as exemplary school citizenship. Only students who take the entrance exam at Bishop Hendricken are given consideration for merit scholarship review. Only candidates for entry into the 9th grade are eligible for merit scholarships.

The Dianne O'Reilly Scholarship$15,000 awarded annually for highest achievement on the entrance exam
Chaplain's Scholarship$4,000 awarded annually to 4 incoming freshmen who place top 3%-5% on the entrance exam
Principal's Scholarship$2,000 awarded annually to 5 incoming freshmen who place top 5%-7% on the entrance exam

Other Scholarships & Tuition Assistance

Other private donor scholarships and tuition assistance efforts may be available each year based on a student’s financial need and academic performance. That review is ongoing throughout each winter and spring. The Admissions Office will pre-qualify applicants based on specific criteria and notify the student if he qualifies to complete a separate application process.

Tuition Payment Plans

Bishop Hendricken High School uses FACTS Management for tuition payments. Click here to visit the secure payment portal. We ask that each family choose a payment plan upon enrollment, and this contract can be renewed for each of the student’s years.

Full Payment PlanFamilies who choose this plan receive a $150 discount. Tuition is paid in full by June 5th for the following academic year. The discount is not available to students whose families receive financial aid.
Two Payment PlanThe full year’s tuition is divided into two equal payments. The first payment is due on June 5th for the following academic year, and the second is due on December 5th of that year.
Monthly Payment PlanThis is an automatic monthly withdrawal from your checking or savings account. Payments can be divided evenly over a four, ten, or eleven-month period beginning in June for the following academic year. Payments can be set for the 5th or the 20th of each month.
