Giving

Giving is Who We Are

At Bishop Hendricken, we believe in the power of philanthropy. Our school was created by the generosity of the Morris family when they donated the land on which our campus stands. Giving is part of our Catholic mission and is embedded in our history.

Your investment in Bishop Hendricken will change a life. Your generosity helps us close the gap between tuition and the cost of a Hendricken education, providing an engaging curriculum, opportunities for experiential learning, financial aid, and support for our facilities and technology, all for the betterment of our students.

The FUND for HENDRICKEN

The FUND for HENDRICKEN is an unrestricted fund, meaning it support every aspect of campus life, including classroom enhancements, students experiences, and areas of greatest need.

Tuition Assistance Fund

The Tuition Assistance makes Bishop Hendricken accessible, and in most cases, possible to more young men who desire an all-boys, Catholic, college preparatory education.

Hawks Feeding Hawks

Hawks Feeding Hawks supports 45+ students enrolled at Bishop Hendricken who cannot afford a lunch each day.

IRA Gifts (QCDs)

If you are 70.5 years of age or older, you may be eligible to make Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) from your traditional or Roth IRA. This allows you to support our mission in a tax-efficient way, while also meeting the required minimum distributions (RMDs) on your retirement account.

A QCD is a direct transfer of funds from your IRA, payable to a qualified charity such as Bishop Hendricken High School. A few key benefits include:

  • Tax-free giving: The amount of your QCD can count toward your RMD without increasing your taxable income.
  • Lower taxable income: Because QCDs are excluded from taxable income, they can help keep you in a lower tax bracket, avoid phase-outs of tax credits, and reduce the amount of Social Security that’s subject to tax.
  • No itemization required: Even if you don’t itemize deductions, you can still benefit from a QCD by lowering your adjusted gross income.

QCDs can also be made from Roth IRAs, but since Roth IRA distributions are typically tax-free, the tax benefit might not be as impactful unless your Roth IRA has taxable earnings.

If you would like more information on how you can contribute through a QCD, please contact Brandan O’Donnell, Director of Finance, at 401.889.5396.
