Students come to Bishop Hendricken every morning from as far as Westerly, Cumberland, and Newport, as well as towns in Massachusetts. Others come from just down the street.
Each student’s transportation needs are different, and we endeavor to accommodate students by providing school-sponsored bus transportation from various cities and towns. We are continuously working to improve existing bus routes and to look for alternate transportation arrangements for our families.

Based on demand, Bishop Hendricken High School contracts Ocean State Transit Bus Co. for transportation to and from the towns listed below…
Barrington, Bristol, Cranston, Cumberland, East Providence, Greenville, Jamestown, Johnston, Middletown, Newport, North Kingstown, North Providence, Pawtucket, Riverside, Rumford, Smithfield, South Kingstown, and Warren
If you live outside of these towns but wish to utilize this bus service, you may contract for service as long as you are willing to drive to a designated stop on one of the routes listed below. All contracted bus service is reviewed annually for modifications based on where students live, as well as for safety and convenience. Pricing is also review annually and made available in the spring. Hendricken subsidizes the per-student cost of transportation to keep it affordable.
Students from the following areas are provided free bus service from their city or town to and from Bishop Hendricken each day: Coventry, East Greenwich, Foster, Glocester, Scituate, Warwick, and West Warwick. Requirements to register differ based on the municipality.
The Rhode Island Public Transportation Authority (RIPTA) leaves Providence (Providence Station & Kennedy Plaza) and arrives at Bishop Hendricken via Route 3 Oakland Beach. The bus stops right at our Oakland Beach Avenue entrance. Monthly rates are available at a discounted rate for Hendricken students through the Business Office.
