Fr. Marciano ’75 asks community to support those out of work due to federal government shutdwown with donations
WARWICK, RI (January 23, 2019) – Fr. Robert Marciano ’75, President of Bishop Hendricken High School, has called on students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the school community to donate non-perishable food items and gift cards in support of furloughed workers impacted by the federal government shutdown.
All donations can be dropped off in the main office at Bishop Hendricken. Once enough items are collected, they will be distributed to workers in Rhode Island and the local community. Bishop Hendricken will collect items for as long as the government shutdown continues. Should the shutdown end before distribution, all items collected will be donated to social services agencies within the Diocese of Providence.
“In our efforts to assist those who are without work, and certainly, without a paycheck for the second time coming this Friday, we are having a collection here at Bishop Hendricken of non-perishable items, as well as gift cards to be distributed to those furloughed workers and their families,” said Fr. Marciano. “We thank the Bishop Hendricken community in advance for its generosity to those who are out of work.”
Bishop Hendricken will refer furloughed workers to the diocese for further support, and will provide any assistance it can to help those affected.
