WARWICK, RI (March 13, 2026) – The Bishop Hendricken Academic Decathlon team delivered an outstanding performance this season, earning individual medals and capturing First Place in the Super Quiz, one of the competition’s most exciting events.
Several Hawks were recognized for their individual achievements. Brenton Herman earned a Bronze Medal in Social Science, while Giovanni Cardilli received a Bronze Medal in Mathematics.
The entire Bishop Hendricken team came together to secure First Place in the Super Quiz, showcasing their depth of knowledge and teamwork.

The team is coached by Gary Swider, who was also recognized by the Rhode Island Academic Decathlon (RIAD) for his dedication to the program and commitment to his students.
“He recruited students and prepared them with the extensive material in the resource guides. He was diligent with his meeting time, always seeking clarification along the way. As a validation of his work, two of your school members earned bronze medals, an accomplishment that will continue to promote the program,” said Frank Lenox of the Rhode Island Academic Decathlon (RIAD).
