WARWICK, RI (May 15, 2024) – Bishop Hendricken High School will honor fallen members of the United States armed forces at a Memorial Day prayer service taking place on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 10am in the Dr. Daniel S. Harrop Theater on campus. Lieutenant Commander Kasim J. Yarn, Director of Veterans Affairs for the State of Rhode Island, will serve as the service’s keynote speaker.
At the prayer service, Bishop Hendricken will remember all who have served, especially alumni who have made the ultimate sacrifice: Second Lieutenant Richard D. McKenzie ’63, Captain Matthew J. August ’93, and Lance Corporal Eric P. Valdepeñas ’03.
“The Bishop Hendricken family is proud to honor those who have served and keep our promise to never forget them,” said Fr. Marciano. “All are welcome to join us as we remember the heroes of our state and union.”
Chaplain Colonel (Ret.) Fr. Robert L. Maricano, KHS ’75, Bishop Hendricken President, will also be joined by U.S. Senator Jack Reed, Major General Reginald Centracchio, Brigadier General Thomas Hannon P’21, Brigadier General Andrew Chevalier ’86, Chaplain Lt. Colonel Fr. David Thurber, Chaplain Captain Fr. TJ Varghese, and Mr. Richard August.
Additionally, U.S. Senator Jack Reed will issue citations to graduating members of the Class of 2024 who have earned appointments to U.S. service academies and those who are enlisting in military service. A reception will follow the service in the President’s Courtyard Dining Room on campus.
