Getting involved in Hawk Country

Featuring Lyle Jaron Alcordo ’23

When Lyle Jaron Alcordo ‘23 visited Open House during his 7th grade year, he knew it would become his second home. Like most Hawks, Lyle has molded his Hendricken experience to incorporate his many passions and interests.

“When kids come to school, most are here for homeroom, but I’m able to come in for Concert Band before the school day even starts,” said Lyle. “Then, when school ends, I can stay for all the clubs and activities that I’m a part of.”

In just his first two years at Hendricken, beginning in the 8th grade, Lyle has been a member of the Arts Academy Concert Band, Pep Band, Indoor Percussion Ensemble, Technical Theater Crew, Board Game Design Club, Robotics, Hawks Broadcast Network, Science Olympiad, Ambassadors Club, and Esports.

“It’s really easy to get involved here,” he said. “The club moderators are your teachers, so talking with them is simple. The morning announcements, brochures, bulletin boards, and open houses give you the chance to learn about all there is to do.”

In addition to pursuing his interests, involvement in campus life at Bishop Hendricken has also taught Lyle the importance of responsibility, balance, and time management.

“I’m not the most organized person, but being involved with all of my activities has taught me to prioritize and think about my week.”

“At my very first open house, I decided that I would go here for 8th grade and beyond,” he added. “I shadowed my friend who was here at Hendricken and it confirmed by decision.”
