Bishop Hendricken announces information on 2019 Veterans Week

WARWICK, RI (November 7, 2019) – SABER (Student Advocates of Blessed Edmund Rice), a student group from Bishop Hendricken High School dedicated to advocating on behalf of Rhode Island veterans, will host “Veterans Week” at the school November 11-15, 2019.

The week will kick off on Monday, November 11th with the school hosting its 4th Annual Pancake Breakfast free for all veterans and military personnel from 7:30 am – 11:00 am in Hendricken’s Founders Hall.  Admission for veterans and military is free.   Others may attend by making a donation toward care packages for deployed alumni of Bishop Hendricken as well as men and women deployed from Rhode Island.  Suggested donations for packages include hard candy, chewing gum, hand lotion, white socks, Tic-Tacs, playing cards, toothpaste, DVD’s, batteries, magazines, pre-paid calling cards, tissues and hand wipes.  The event is being sponsored by Dunkin’ Donuts and Dave’s Marketplace.

A special Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 13th for veterans of the Bishop Hendricken community both living and deceased in Hendricken’s Dr. Daniel S. Harrop Theater at 10:15 am.  Other activities for the week include educating the Hendricken community on various issues important to veterans, providing information on how people can contact their elected officials, and a petition drive to be presented to state leaders encouraging them to increase funding for the overall holistic health of veterans.
