PROVIDENCE, RI (March 16, 2019) – It didn’t take long for Brady Berard to notch the goal that would give Bishop Hendricken its sixth state hockey title. In fact, it only took four minutes into the sudden-death overtime period.

And, when the Hawks needed a goal to force that extra frame of hockey, Berard took care of business then, too.

With 1:30 left and in the third period, and trailing by a goal, the freshman phenom took a Cam Toussaint ’19 pass off the face-off and rifled it past the La Salle goaltender.

But, Berard’s contributions don’t stop there.

The freshman broke a 1-1 tie just 1 minute into the second period. The Rams would eventually pot a powerplay goal to close out the middle frame, and then add another at even strength midway through the third period.

“It’s the best feeling I’ve ever had in my life” said Berard. “I can’t thank my teammates enough. They’ve been great to me. This is just awesome.”

Varsity Hockey’s championship-clinching sweep of La Salle Academy mark the program’s sixth-ever title, the third in four years for Creamer’s Hawks, and the fourth title out of a possible five on the 2019 winter season for Bishop Hendricken Athletics. Wrestling, Swimming, and Indoor Track & Field have also earned titles this winter.
