WARWICK, RI (February 13, 2026) – Bishop Hendricken High School proudly welcomed home alumnus and current Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla ’06 today for a special visit celebrating faith, community, and excellence.
The world champion coach returned to campus to spend time in the school chapel with invited guests and members of the Bishop Hendricken faculty, reflecting on the foundation that shaped both his personal and professional journey. The visit culminated in an address to the student body, where Mazzulla spoke about how his experience at Bishop Hendricken prepared him for success at the highest levels of basketball and leadership.
Mazzulla emphasized the impact of the mentors, coaches, teachers, and community members who showed him grace, support, and love throughout his formative years. He credited those relationships as essential to his growth as both an athlete and a leader.
With an extensive professional resume, Mazzulla shared that his faith remains at the center of his life and career.
Encouraging students to embrace the culture of excellence at Hendricken, he reflected:
“If you choose to come to Hendricken, you are going to be forced to chase greatness. The environment, the people in this school, and the people who came before us push you to go after greatness. It is one of the ultimate opportunities God can give you. It is our job and responsibility to figure out how to use the gifts and abilities God has given us.”
Mazzulla spoke about the culture of Bishop Hendricken and its athletic program, explaining that he experiences the same feeling walking into the Bishop Hendricken gymnasium, surrounded by countless banners and names, as he does at TD Garden, where he coaches the Boston Celtics.
The day concluded with a reception attended by invited guests, family members, faculty, and the Bishop Hendricken Varsity Basketball Team, celebrating a Hawk whose journey continues to inspire the next generation.
