WARWICK, RI (March 30, 2023) – Today, Fr. Robert L. Marciano, KHS ’75, President, announced the departure of longtime Development staff member, Peter Thomas ’86. After 16 years of dedicated service to Bishop Hendricken High School, Thomas has accepted a position as Director of Partnerships & Innovation at Roger Williams University’s University College. Thomas’ last day at Bishop Hendricken will be April 14, 2023.
“This new position allows us to share Peter’s many gifts and talents with another deserving community, as well as the opportunity to congratulate him on a job well-done as a loyal, devout, and hard-working member of the Bishop Hendricken family,” said Fr. Marciano. “His jovial style, ready smile, and embracing hug will be missed by all, but we send him forward with our gratitude and prayers for much success in the future. Peter has made a difference every day, and most importantly, left Bishop Hendricken better than he found it. As he always remarks: once a Hawk, always a Hawk!”
“I have greatly enjoyed assisting my alma mater in thriving and meeting the ever-growing needs of the students, faculty, and staff at Bishop Hendricken,” said Thomas. “It is my hope and prayer that Bishop Hendricken continue to grow and flourish moving forward. I look forward to continuing my role as a fervent ambassador for my alma mater. I love this school.”
Thomas has been integral to the Development Office’s alumni relations and donor engagement efforts since 2007. Holding several positions over the years, Thomas has shepherded fundraising campaigns, overseen new community initiatives, and positively engaged hundreds of alumni and benefactors with Bishop Hendricken. Thomas claims his greatest accomplishment, however, was founding the Community Thanksgiving Dinner for individuals without family to spend the holiday together on campus, and in recent years, at Iggy’s.
“Working side-by-side with Peter over these past three months has been an absolute pleasure,” said Daniel Friel, Director of Development. “Peter’s love, passion, and knowledge of Bishop Hendricken have made — and will continue to make — a tremendous impact on the Hawk family.”
“From the day I met Peter, he has given the heartiest Bishop Hendricken welcome to everyone with which he has crossed paths,” said Mark DeCiccio ’03, Principal. “He is a consummate professional and we wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors at Roger Williams University. Simply put, Peter is quality one! We’ll miss him dearly.”
The President’s Office will begin a formal search for the next Development Officer in the coming days.
