Message from Ethan Charnley
This school has given me every opportunity to become the person I am today, and I am truly beyond grateful for that. At Hendricken, it’s always been about recognizing and taking advantage of the opportunities around you, and that’s exactly what I chose to do during my time here. The friendships I made with my classmates, as well as the bonds formed with faculty and staff, have been some of the most meaningful relationships of my life and ones I know will last a lifetime. Whether it was the excitement of playing games under the Friday night lights, the energy of being part of the crowd at hockey and basketball games, or simply the everyday moments of sharing lunch and conversations with friends, every experience has contributed to making these four years unforgettable. It’s truly remarkable to have had all of these memories and opportunities happen in one place, and I can honestly say there is no other school where I would have rather spent this important
chapter of my life. Hendricken has been my home for many years, even before I arrived as a student, as my brother, cousin, and uncle all graduated from here, making it a family tradition I am proud to continue. This school didn’t just prepare me academically—it shaped who I am, provided a community that feels like family, and gave me a foundation I will carry with me forever.
Ethan’s Accomplishments at Bishop Hendricken
Ethan’s years at Bishop Hendricken were marked by service, leadership, and dedication across mission work, athletics, and academics. He traveled to Peru on the 2024 Mission Trip, coordinated the Peru Supplies Drive for the 2025 trip, and helped reintroduce Mission Wednesday, which supported both student financial aid and the Peruvian community. On the field, Ethan was a two-year varsity starter and senior captain for the football team, winning three state championships, and also competed in indoor and outdoor track and field for four years, serving as senior captain. Despite injuries that prevented him from competing in the spring of 2025, he continued to contribute as manager for the baseball team. His athletic career culminated in signing to play football at the University of Rhode Island. Academically, Ethan graduated with a 3.51 GPA, earned a place on the President’s and Principal’s List, was named Man of the Year in 2025, and completed five AP courses in literature, language, government, U.S. history, and European history.
