WARWICK, RI (August 29, 2019) – Bishop Hendricken High School was named home to the best boys’ athletics program in the United States on Tuesday by MaxPreps. The ranking, part of the MaxPreps Cup, is based on the 2018-2019 school year, including the Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons.
Hendricken’s nine state championships in 2018-2019, and two runner-up finishes, solidified its spot at the top of the boys’ rankings with a MaxPreps Cup score of 1,518. The Hawks edged out powerhouse programs in Carmel (Indiana), and overall MaxPreps Cup winner, Jesuit (Oregon). Additionally, Hendricken was ranked #18 in the nation by the overall MaxPreps Cup rankings, including co-educational programs.
The MaxPreps Cup is a formula that seeks to determine the best overall high school sports program in the nation. Schools receive points for state championships, runner-up finishes and placement on national rankings. Also taken into account are the type of sport, size of the state, enrollment level of the school and the number of participating teams in that enrollment level.
