WOONSOCKET, RI (March 5, 2021) – On behalf of Bishop Hendricken High School and Hendricken Athletics, we would like to extend a heartfelt congratulations to our Varsity Hockey program on a great season and on their advancement to the finals of the Rhode Island State Hockey Tournament. We would also like to sincerely congratulate Mount St. Charles Academy on a tremendous season.
Due to a recent COVID-19 positive result that impacts the state championship match-up, the series between Bishop Hendricken and Mount St. Charles slated for this weekend has been cancelled. As a result, both Mount St. Charles and our Bishop Hendricken Hawks will be recognized as Rhode Island State Co-Champions for the 2020-2021 season. In an effort to promote good sportsmanship and good will, both teams will play a charity exhibition game at a later date, to be announced soon, in order to honor and raise funds for Bishop Feehan High School’s A.J. Quetta, who suffered a serious injury during play earlier this winter.
Once again, we want to thank our student-athletes and coaches for an outstanding season, especially under challenging circumstances. We are incredibly appreciative of all your hard work, determination, and commitment not only to Bishop Hendricken Hockey, but to the entire Athletics program. Congratulations to our seniors, to our hockey student-athletes, and coaches. We look forward to a bright future ahead.
