WARWICK, RI – The Hawks remained perfect in RIIL play on Monday evening with a 58-47 win over the North Kingstown Skippers in a packed and raucous Pepin Gym. With the win, Hendricken’s Varsity team improves to a perfect 10-0 in league play.

North Kingstown proved to be a handful from tip-off, leading Coach Jamal Gomes’ team for the majority of the first half. Despite a slow start, Hendricken began to dominate in the final minutes of the first, going on a 12-point run, and allowing no points by the Skippers to bring a 27-22 lead into half-time.

After an early second-half run by the Hawks, North Kingstown responded with a 7-0 run of their own to bring the score to 39-36. Following back-and-forth play from both teams, the Green and Gold went on their second 12-0 run of the game, a lead that the Skippers would never be able to minimize.

Prior to the Varsity showdown, Hendricken and North Kingstown’s JV squads battled to a 64-62 shootout in favor of the Hawks.

Hendricken’s JV and Varsity teams take on the South Kingstown Rebels on Wednesday, January 24 in Wakefield at 6pm. The Rebels’ Varsity team sits at 3rd in the RIIL standings with a 9-2 record.

The Hawks and Skippers meet again for their final match-up of the regular season on Monday, February 5 at 7pm in North Kingstown.
