WARWICK, RI (August 5, 2026) Bishop Hendricken congratulates Patrick Clemmey ’25, who was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 14th round of the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft. Clemmey was the 429th overall selection and officially signed with the organization on July 24. He has been assigned to the Florida Complex League Phillies as he begins his professional career.
Clemmey’s path to professional baseball included a lengthy recovery from Tommy John surgery, which kept him away from the mound for two seasons. He returned during his senior year at Bishop Hendricken and quickly established himself as one of Rhode Island’s top pitchers. After graduating in 2025, he completed a postgraduate year at Avon Old Farms School in Connecticut.
The 6-foot-5 left-hander impressed Phillies scouts with a fastball reaching 94 to 95 miles per hour and a strong breaking ball. He also participated in a workout at Citizens Bank Park before the draft.
Patrick joins his older brother, Alex Clemmey ’23, in professional baseball. Alex was selected in the second round of the 2023 MLB Draft and currently pitches in the Washington Nationals organization.
