Hendricken senior enlists in the Rhode Island Army National Guard
WARWICK, RI (March 8, 2019) – Ryan Rice ’20 makes Bishop Hendricken proud as he enlists in the Rhode Island Army National Guard while a junior at the school. Rice will attend boot camp on June 3rd, and will return to Bishop Hendricken for his senior year in the Fall. Next summer, Ryan will attend Military Police school. Next year, Rice will apply to the University of Rhode Island to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice for a full four-year paid tuition as part of his National Guard signing deal. His goal is to join a police force or become a member of the Rhode Island State Police.
Lt. Colonel Mike Manning, the Commander of the Recruiting Battalion, visited Hendricken and joined with Father Marciano ’75, President, and Mr. DeCiccio ’03, Principal, and presented Ryan with a National Guard cap in celebration of his decision during Mr. Cooley’s Theology class on Friday.
“Ryan presents a beautiful example of a young man who desires to be part of something bigger than himself,” said Colonel Manning. “The Rhode Island Army National Guard will afford him the opportunity to actively pursue his future and maximize his potential. Along the way, he will be encouraged to fully live his Catholic, Christian values in use.”
Our prayers and best wishes go with Ryan and all the brave men and women who serve our nation, and their families, as they keep us safe.
