SENIOR NEWSLETTER – September 5, 2017

This newsletter will be distributed electronically to your Hendricken e-mail on the first school day of every week, also available at It is our central communications tool for keeping you and your parents informed about college, career and scholarship opportunities. Read it carefully and share it with your parents. Often the newsletter will refer to opportunities that can be further investigated and applied for through the Guidance Office. Whenever you see something of interest or about which you need more information come to the Guidance Office and ask your counselor or Mrs. Collamati.

Valuable information regarding your final year at Hendricken will be provided to your parents on Sept. 12th in our theater. It is very important that one of your parents attends this valuable session. The program begins at 6:30 PM.

You are free to stop in to see your counselor whenever you might have a free moment and are in need of answers, materials, advice, clarification and the like. For discussions that might require additional time, it is easy to schedule a mutually convenient appointment. We are all here to support you and your parents in the college search, application and financing processes… be sure to stop in or have your folks call as the need arises.

Registration materials are now available for both the SAT I and the SAT II tests. You must register for the October 7th test no later Sept. 8. Visit You must register for the November test by October 5th. We also have an ample supply of the ACT test registration booklets. You can register for either test on the Internet. Practice test taking materials for any of these tests are also available in Guidance. Once Again, BHHS will be offering the TESTPREP course beginning Saturday, September 16th, and you can see Mr. Alianiello or Mrs. Tudino for details about this program.

Hendricken will be using an Internet based service this year for the purpose of transmitting all of your academic credentials to the colleges to which you apply. Details about procedures for this process will be provided. It is very important that you have obtained a password for your Common Application account prior to these sessions. Visit to set up your account if you have not already done so. Just about everyone has a Naviance account which we set up last Spring.

In addition to the 140+ colleges arriving for our annual College Fair on Wednesday, September 13th, many others will be visiting us for individualized sessions throughout September, October, November and December. You will be reminded of these visits in the newsletters. Mrs. Collamati has an inventory of all colleges visiting and a notebook through which you can register for sessions of your choice. You are permitted to miss class for a pre-registered college session, provided you are in good academic standing and the college is an appropriate admissions choice for you. Additional details will be furnished in the future newsletters. Sign-up for these sessions through your Naviance account under “Colleges” then “Visits”.
