SOMETHING ROTTEN! plays July 27-30

WARWICK, RI (July 17, 2023) – Summer Stage at Bishop Hendricken will proudly present Something Rotten!, a hilarious mash-up of sixteenth-century Shakespeare and twenty-first-century Broadway, from July 27-30, 2023 in the Dr. Daniel S. Harrop Theater.

The production will feature a 4-show run with performances on: Thursday, July 27 at 7pm; Friday, July 28 at 7pm; Saturday, July 29 at 7pm; and Sunday, July 30 at 2pm. Tickets are $12 for students/seniors and $15 for adults. Tickets are on sale now, here.

“This production has been a huge undertaking, but our student actors, crew, and musicians have certainly risen to the occasion,” said Julia Paolino, Director of Arts. “The entire creative team is so proud of their hard work and dedication during these summer months.  With show-stopping dances and laugh-out-loud comedy, especially for Shakespeare or musical theatre enthusiasts, Something Rotten! is sure to energize and delight our audiences.”

Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star, William Shakespeare. When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing, and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self.

Bishop Hendricken’s production features a company of 50+ student actors, technicians, and musicians. A full cast, crew, pit band, and creative team list is below.
