WARWICK, RI (October 24, 2023) – The Arts at Bishop Hendricken will proudly present The Drowsy Chaperone as its 2023 fall musical from November 17-19, 2023 in the Dr. Daniel S. Harrop Theater.
The production will feature a 3-show run with performances on: Friday, November 17 at 7pm; Saturday, November 18 at 7pm; and Sunday, November 19 at 2pm. Tickets are $12 for students/seniors and $15 for adults. Tickets are on sale now, here.
“Though The Drowsy Chaperone is filled with humor, it also has a lot of heart,” said Julia Paolino, Director of Arts. “It’s been very rewarding to explore that balance with our student artists. At its heart, this production is a cheeky love letter to the Broadway musicals of yore and all the generations of theatre kids who have found refuge and escape in their grandeur.”
With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight.
