WARWICK, RI (July 30, 2024) – Bishop Richard G. Henning and the Diocese of Providence today announced administrative changes for Bishop Hendricken High School, effective September 1, 2024.
Bishop Henning and the Diocese of Providence thank Rev. Robert L. Marciano, KHS ’75 for serving for five and a half years as President of Bishop Hendricken, having graciously agreed to continue serving at his alma mater beyond his initial appointment. Father Marciano’s tenure as President has seen growth in fundraising and many successes across faith-based initiatives, academics, service opportunities, veteran events, performing arts, athletics, extracurriculars, facility upgrades, additions, and improvements.
“We thank Father Marciano for graciously serving even longer than originally asked to as President of Bishop Hendricken while keeping full time roles at multiple parishes. The diocese is grateful for his service,” said Michael M. Lavigne, Secretary for Evangelization and Pastoral Planning for the Diocese of Providence. Father Marciano will continue in his other assignments including as Pastor of St. Kevin Parish and Administrator of St. Benedict Parish, both in Warwick. Having attained the rank of Colonel serving as a Chaplain in the U.S. Air Force for 36 years, Father Marciano also serves as Chaplain to the Providence and Warwick Fire Departments, the Warwick Police Department, the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy, and the 100 Club of Rhode Island.
“It has been the honor of my lifetime to have served as President at the school that I love and will always call home,” said Father Marciano. “As I finish my term on September 1, 2024, I thank our incredible and dedicated team, including the Board of Advisors, faculty, staff, students, families, alumni, donors, and friends, for making it such an historic journey. I know that you join me in wishing Principal DeCiccio, a close friend and colleague, much success at the helm of the flagship Catholic high school of our diocese. My prayers and support for our green and gold family will continue now and in the future. As I have often said: ‘once a Hawk, always a Hawk.'”
The diocese is pleased to announce that Principal Mark DeCiccio ’03 will assume the primary leadership role at Bishop Hendricken as the school aligns with the model of principal-led schools already in place in its other diocesan high schools.
“We have great confidence that Principal DeCiccio will continue to grow the school in the Hendricken tradition of excellence, educating and making disciples of hundreds of young men from Rhode Island each year,” added Lavigne.
